This year, The Wigwam has a lot to be thankful for. Thanksgiving Day 2019 will mark 90 years since the West Valley resort opened up its doors to guests in 1929. What started as a guest ranch house with just enough room for 24 guests, has transformed into an iconic retreat with 331 guest rooms and suites.
To commemorate the milestone, The Wigwam tapped two of its employees — the longest-standing and newest — on what being a part of the historic property means to them.
Jesse Davis
Longest-Standing Employee
Length of Employment: 48 years (and counting)
Title: Host at Red’s Bar & Grill
Why he’s thankful for The Wigwam:
“My time at the resort has been a wonderful adventure. I really love the resort, the town of Litchfield Park and it’s always been a fun place to work!”
What about The Wigwam has been consistent throughout your tenure?
“We have maintained high standards for our service, hospitality and culinary offerings. The resort staff has always been one big family, dedicated to putting our best foot forward each day.”
What has changed most?
“The resort has grown considerably! We have developed and built more units, a third championship golf course and we have the capacity for twice as many guests since I started. Also, there are less social house guests and more corporate groups.”
Fun fact: One of Red’s Bar & Grill’s best-selling dishes was aptly named the “Jesse Burger” after the resort’s longest-standing and most dedicated employee. It was his idea to create the classic burger with lettuce, tomato, smoked bacon, cheddar and Red’s sauce.
Brooke Beasley

Why she’s thankful for The Wigwam:
“The Wigwam is truly a special place to work. I love the deep history and the passion and dedication of all the staff. There are employees who have worked here longer than I have been alive! I think that says a lot about the resort and why it remains a beloved destination 90 years after its opening.”
What sets The Wigwam apart from other resorts in the region?
“The Wigwam offers a cozy and familiar haven where guests can feel comfortable and cared for no matter what the occasion. The resort is a home-away-from-home for all that provides top-notch service – that’s something I haven’t experienced at any other resort.”
Fun fact: Outside of work, Brooke loves to cook recipes she finds on Pinterest and enjoys outside activities like hiking, kayaking and soccer.
