True Ranch Collection announced in March that three of its historic dude ranches have received national accolades. White Stallion and Kay El Bar Guest Ranch were ranked second and third in the 2025 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards Best Dude Ranch category. White Stallion Ranch and Rancho de la Osa also earned second and eighth place in the USA Today 10Best 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Dude Ranch. All three are located in Arizona.
“It’s an honor to see three of our six ranches featured in these prestigious awards, including White Stallion in both,” Managing Partner Russell True said. “It affirms that we’re successfully delivering a guest-centered experience while preserving the history and identity of each ranch.”
Each ranch offers a unique blend of adventure, history, and western charm. Nestled against the backdrop of Saguaro National Park, White Stallion Ranch has been a year-round, family-friendly destination for decades.
With over 60 years of stewardship by the True family, the ranch offers a variety of activities, including horseback riding, hiking, rock climbing, archery, and fat-tire electric bike tours. Evening entertainment includes trick roping and a weekly rodeo. Guests can also enjoy resort-style amenities like a spa, fitness center, sports courts, pool, and hot tub.
Located in Wickenburg, Kay El Bar has a century-long history and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The ranch offers horseback riding, hiking, sport shooting, archery, and UTV tours. After a day of adventure, guests can relax by the pool, soak in the hot tub, and enjoy a cold drink in the adobe bar. Kay El Bar’s remote desert setting is perfect for those seeking a quiet retreat steeped in history.
Rancho de la Osa historic ranch is in Sasabe, next to the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. Rancho is Arizona’s oldest ranch, featuring an outpost built in 1722 by Jesuit missionaries now serving as the cantina. The property also boasts a Spanish-style hacienda and has hosted notable guests, including U.S. presidents, Hollywood stars, and famous authors. Guests can experience horseback riding, hiking, and UTV tours through high-desert grasslands, as well as shooting, archery, and relax by the pool.
Russell True and partner Jaye Wells founded Ranch Preservation Holdings, which preserves and manages the historic ranches within the True Ranch Collection. In addition to the Arizona properties, True Ranch Collection also operates dude ranches in Wyoming and Montana, each offering an authentic Western experience for guests.
