Enhancements to all 36 guest rooms, expanded pool deck and new meeting space signal next step in developing the ultimate beach sanctuary.

Following the May 2014 acquisition of Laguna Cliffs Inn, Classic Hotels & Resorts announced today a $1.5 million investment to renovate the boutique hotel. The property will debut a fresh look in April under the new name Laguna Beach House.

All 36 deluxe guestrooms and public spaces – including the lobby as the hotel’s social hub, an expanded pool deck and the brand new meeting space – will be remodeled to reflect the carefree spirit of the property’s beach town location.

Upon arrival, guests will be immediately immersed into the Southern California surf culture. Chic coastal décor and vintage furniture create the look and feel of an open, airy beach cottage with a palette of natural, warm colors with vibrant pops. Oceanic scenes are depicted in the design and the artwork, and surf, skate and sand accents are spread throughout the property.

  • Guest rooms feature surfboards mounted above the beds and G&S skateboards acting as towel racks (surf boards also sold on property)
  • Custom-designed Laguna Beach destination posters hung in each room, reminiscent of vintage travel posters (see below)
  • Expanded pool deck with casual lounge furniture and a fire pit for evening relaxation
  • Daily surf reports displayed on a chalkboard in the lobby, where General Manager Rachel Tejeda also hosts nightly wine hours
  • New meeting space that can accommodate intimate groups of up to 15
  • Nightly rate starts at $197

The accommodations are designed specifically to reflect the laidback California vibe, with beach accents abound. Succulents, vintage surf books, small handcrafted instruments, canvas totes and coastal-inspired accessories by Australian brand Sunnylife and Venice Beach-based Convivial are displayed throughout the guestrooms, with custom-made surfboards hanging over the beds. (If guests want to hit the waves, they can also opt to buy a surfboard on-site.) The hotel commissioned a custom-designed Laguna Beach destination poster reminiscent of vintage travel posters, which will go in each guest room. T-shirts and posters of the limited edition artwork will also be available for sale. Vintage 1970’s era Gordon & Smith skateboards serve as towel racks in all bathrooms, which will be fully remodeled. Crisp white shutters open to let in the natural light, keeping the clean, white guestrooms bright and airy. Twenty accommodations feature private balconies with garden tables, chairs and coastal views.

The expanded pool area will feature comfortable, casual lounge furniture and a fire pit, making it a perfect place to relax under the sun or stars in Laguna’s beautiful year-round weather. As with the hotel’s sister property two blocks south, The Inn at Laguna Beach, the poolside shower is crafted out of custom-designed surfboards.

The new, enlarged lobby will act as a gathering area for guests to mingle during nightly wine hours with General Manager Rachel Tejeda. Visitors can also pop in each morning for the daily surf report, displayed on a chalkboard.

Unlike other boutique hotels in the area, Laguna Beach House will feature an all-new meeting space just off the lobby. Perfect for small gatherings, the boardroom can accommodate groups up to 15, depending on the setup. Small groups and corporate retreats will find the boutique atmosphere of the hotel and function space a perfect solution for intimate gatherings or private meals.

“With all of the exciting enhancements soon to be unveiled, it seemed appropriate to introduce the hotel’s new identity with a new name that speaks to its look and feel,” said Matt Crow, CEO of Classic Hotels & Resorts. “We modeled the Laguna Beach House after your quintessential California beach cottage, right down to the textiles and tapestry. As a boutique hotel with only 36 guestrooms, the property already radiates the quaint charm of this small beachfront town, and we are so excited to debut the look design and décor to our guests – new and returning.”

Laguna Beach House is located on the cliffs of Laguna Beach, providing an intimate coastal getaway. The hotel is a short walk from Main Beach and also offers guests easy access to the surf and sand with an in-house Beach Concierge, who can arrange private paddleboard lessons/rentals, whale watching excursions and more. Rates during low season start at $197 and $326 in peak season. To make reservations, please call (800) 297-0007 or click here.
