Stuck in AZ with nothing to do Labor Day Weekend? Don’t fret because The Fairmont Scottsdale is hosting its 5th Annual Labor Day Dream-cation Sept. 4–7, 2015. Cruise onto the “S.S. Princess,” a.k.a the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, for a weekend getaway with South Seas cruise ship-themed activities, limbo contests on the lido deck, fire dancers and fireworks.
Let the “dream-cation” begins as valet men in sailor hats greet you with leis. Later, carry on to the lobby Iwhere you’re free to take a complimentary photo with a life buoy and a digitally super-imposed cruise ship in the background.
For family-friendly weekend activities, let the Fairmont Fun Team be your guides! There’s a full itinerary of shore excursions to enjoy including zip-lining over the lagoons, fishing derbies with Ranger Rick, watermelon eating contests, lei and grass skirt making, hula lessons and t-shirt tie-dying.
Of-age adults can continue to enjoy the tropical paradise by sipping Bora Bora banana hurricane cocktails and listening to a steel drummer, all while iAloha radio broadcasts live from the South Pool playing island music.
After a long day of relaxation, pump up the party at night! The Sonoran Pool Complex takes a twist with the Techno Glo Party, a thrill ride down the water slides with lasers, fog and the hottest hits played by DJ Splash, along with LED hula hoopers and the Splash Rider X-treme water ride. Another favorite is the Dive-In movies at the South Pool, where the intermission will feature Polynesian fire dancers.
Love birds planning to attend the dream-cation can even renew their vows over the weekend with the resort’s very own Captain Stubing, a.k.a. Thomas Williams, the resort’s Director of Guest Services who also is an ordained minister. After the ceremony, the couple is toasted with champagne and then whisked away on a golf cart cruise around the resort. Overnight guests who would like to reserve a complimentary vow renewal ceremony should contact the Princess’ Concierge Desk at 480-585-4848, Ext. 7244.
As the final farewell to a spectacular summer, fireworks light up the sky at 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday nights, September 5 & 6, 2015.
Labor Day Dream-cation Weekend rates start at $199 per night for the Sip, Savor & Splash package which includes a $50 daily credit for dining, spa or the Trailblazers Kids Club.
