Hyatt Regency Scottsdale is proud to announce the return of famed international guitarist Esteban on Saturday, October 22, to coincide with the resort’s 30th anniversary.
This world-famous flamenco guitarist will perform with his full band including daughter Teresa Joy, on violin, for one night. Set against the backdrop of the McDowell Mountains, the sunset concert will be held in the resort’s outdoor Fountain Court.
Born Stephen Paul in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Esteban eyed his first guitar in a store window when he was 8 years old. His uncle bought it for him, and Esteban said “it never left my hands.”
Esteban graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, furthering his musical education in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where he took classes available to only a handful of guitarists from around the world.
Over the next 5 years, Esteban played around the world with the legendary classical guitarist Andrés Segovia, who bestowed him with the name Esteban. However, his musical world was momentarily struck down when he was in a serious automobile accident that threatened his ability to ever play again. After 10 years of dedication and love of music he once again began to play.
Beginning in 1990, Esteban performed regularly at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale’s Lobby Bar, the indoor concert venue that is well known for featuring live entertainment 7 nights a week. Since then, he has topped the Billboards charts with numerous albums, videos and DVDs and created a musical instrument division for affordable, quality guitars to provide a greater possibility for children and adults to “play music.”
