Experience the excitement and elegance of the 151st Kentucky Derby at The Phoenician’s highly anticipated sixth annual Derby Day Porch Party, set to take place on Saturday, May 3, from 1 to 4:00 p.m. at Mowry & Cotton. This celebration promises an afternoon of Southern-inspired cocktails, gourmet cuisine, and lively entertainment in one of Scottsdale’s premier settings.
Hosted in both the dining room and patio, the event will feature TVs and projection screens to capture all the thrills of the iconic horse race. Guests can look forward to an afternoon of fun hosted by Sean McLaughlin, Master of Ceremonies and anchor at Arizona Family’s 3TV.
In true Kentucky Derby style, attendees are encouraged to dress to impress, with prizes awarded for the best-dressed in several categories. Think spring dresses, sharp suits, and elaborate hats – perfect for the fashion-forward crowd. A raffle will add to the excitement, offering an array of “winner’s circle” prizes inspired by the race’s top horses.
Signature cocktails, including the classic mint julep, will be served in commemorative copper cups – which can also be taken home as a keepsake. Southern-inspired dishes, including pickled deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, and bourbon balls, are on the menu for today’s event. A dedicated outdoor station will serve hangar steak and other dishes cooked over an open flame.
Highlights include a 360-degree camera for capturing unforgettable moments, a live DJ and photo opportunities with a special VIP guest racehorse. To top it all off, each attendee will leave with a take-home bag of goodies. Woodford Reserve will be on hand to serve up bourbon samples, and for collectors, signature Kentucky Derby-labeled bottles will be available for purchase with custom engraving.
A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit After the Homestretch-Arizona, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the legacy of former racehorses by providing reconditioning, retraining, and re-homing services.
