Rise Uptown Hotel Closes Out August with Signature Events

Rise Uptown Hotel (Phoenix Magazine’s Best Popsicle Stand Winner) is celebrating National Popsicle Day on August 26, but before then, guests and visitors can enjoy a few other events to finish the month on a high note.

Rise Uptown opened in September 2020 and was revitalized with a new name and Don Woods’s opening in 2021. An all-new Sonoran cuisine menu launched at Lylo Swim Club, including tacos, ceviche, margaritas, and more and hotel guests can also enjoy Social Hour daily from 4-6 p.m., which includes a complimentary drink (bartender’s choice) at Don Woods on Friday and Saturday and at Lylo from Tuesday through Thursday.

Don Woods’ Say When is an iconic rooftop bar with an intimate lounge and spacious terrace with fire pits, cozy seating and views of the Phoenix skyline and Camelback Mountain. The menu features stunning drinks and ‘Forgotten Classics’ like daiquiris, gin-based cocktails, Un Espresso (like an espresso martini but made with Patron reposado, cocoa cafe liqueur and cold brew). The bar also offers wine, beer and small bites: mac + cheese, baked goat cheese, mini “royale” pizzas and more.

The name comes from Don Woods, a well-respected developer in mid-century Phoenix who built the sleek office towers that became Rise Uptown. His former penthouse suite is now Don Woods’ Say When rooftop bar. The new neon sign adorning Rise Uptown was also inspired by the original signage Don created back in the 1950s.

Lylo Swim Club is a mid-century-inspired poolside bar and restaurant that offers refreshing cocktails paired with an all-day menu of Sonoran eats. The fan favorite ‘Dole Whipped’ soft serve cocktail is topped with El Dorado 5yr and Dark Hamilton demerara rum. Hotel guests and locals can purchase a lounger or daybed to enjoy the pool from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

“At Rise Uptown, we’re proud to be a local hotspot that celebrates both our mid-century rich history and our vibrant community,” General Manager Matthew O’Toole said. “It’s a pleasure to welcome visitors and locals alike at what has become a staple local to the area.”

Now, on to the events! Here’s what visitors can find at Rise Uptown in the coming week:

August 22: Join Postino Winecafés Wine Cult and featured winemaker Une Femme for a release bash starting at 6 p.m. at Lylo. Tickets are $20, and 100 percent of proceeds will support Bâttonage, an organization striving to educate wine professionals and industry supporters. RSVP here.

August 23: Hosted by Desert Mvmt is a Pool-iates (pool pilates) class at Lylo Swim Club at 10 a.m. Guests should wear their swimsuits and sunnies (and maybe a hat) and get ready to make some waves – in a good way. Reserve your spot on Instagram @ desert_mvmt.
