Stay in Prince’s Purple Rain House, the Ferrari Museum & More With Airbnb’s New ‘Icons’ Experiences

The Musée d’Orsay

Airbnb is elevating your next vacation experience with its new Icons category hosted by the greatest names in music, film, television, art, sports and more.

Airbnb Icons opens the door to your dreams giving guests a chance to experience the extraordinary from drifting off in the Up house to sharing some laughs with Kevin Hart. There are currently 11 Icons set to release on Airbnb, with new experiences launching worldwide throughout the year.

“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination—until now,” says Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”

The “Up” House

Among some of the first 11 Icons being unveiled are:

  • Drift off in the “Up” house: Spend the night in one of Disney and Pixar’s most iconic homes—and yes, it floats. Featuring over 8,000 balloons the home is located in the scenic red rocks of Abiquiu, New Mexico.
  • Go VIP with Kevin Hart: Join Kevin Hart and friends inside his members-only Coramino Live Lounge where you’ll be treated to a tequila tasting and live stand-up for top comedians.
  • Stay in Prince’s Purple Rain house: Prince’s Minneapolis home, featured in the legendary film Purple Rain, is finally open to the public. Step into the scene and tune into rare tracks from Prince’s world in an exclusive studio session.
  • Wake up in the Musée d’Orsay: Stay in the Paris art museum’s iconic clock room, which has been transformed into a luxurious bedroom by Mathieu Lehanneur, designer of the Paris 2024 Games torch and cauldron. From the terrace, you’ll witness the historic Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games along the River Seine.
  • Spend the night in the Ferrari Museum: Immerse yourself in the world of racing with a stay at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy. You’ll sleep on a bed crafted from the same leather as Ferrari seats, take a lap with Scuderia Ferrari ambassador driver Marc Gené, and head to Emilia-Romagna’s premier race as a VIP.

Icons can be found in its own category on Airbnb’s homepage. Most Icons are free and priced under $100 per guest. A countdown will be displayed revealing when each Icon goes live and guests can request to book through the app. Those lucky enough to be selected will receive a digital golden ticket, with over 4,000 tickets available this year.

With over 80% of bookings being group trips, additional features have been added to bring ease to planning as well:

  • Shared wishlists: You can now invite friends and family to add homes, write notes and vote on listings in your trip wishlist.
  • New messages tab: A redesigned Messages tab now gives access to everyone on a trip to communicate with the host in a group thread. Now all guests, host and customer support messages are in one place, simplifying search across messages. Reactions and AI-suggested quick replies have been added as well for instant answers to frequently asked questions.
  • Trip invitations: Digital invite postcards are now available for your destination, designed by artists around the world. Those joining the trip will receive all reservation details including passwords, check-in instructions and addresses.

Upgrades for hosts include the expansion of the earnings dashboard and automated earnings reports. An updated Listings tab allows hosts more control in creating and editing photo tours to show off their listings.

Icons and new group trip features are now available. Hosts looking to upgrade can also now enroll in Airbnb Early Access in the app.
