A survey by Travel Lens marked Arizona as home to two of the most beautiful national parks: Saguaro National Park and the Petrified Forest. Surprisingly, the Grand Canyon did not make the list this year.
Rankings were based on the number of Google reviews for each park mentioning specific aesthetic words, like “beautiful,” “stunning,” “breathtaking” and “gorgeous,” in comparison to the total number of reviews.
Saguaro National Park just missed the top 10, ranking 13th on the list, with 36.5% of its Google reviews noting the park’s aesthetics. The word “beautiful” appeared in 130 reviews of the park, out of the 143 centered around the park’s looks.
Petrified Forest National Park (pictured at the top) ended the list at 25th with about 30.5% of its reviews mentioning beauty. Among the top descriptors of the park were “beautiful,” “stunning,” “breathtaking” and “gorgeous.”
The Grand Canyon was a notable park not featured on the list, along with Yellowstone and Yosemite, though not for lacking in beauty. Despite a 4.8 star rating on Google reviews, the park contained several words and phrases not tracked by Travel Lens. Over 400 reviews contained the word “awe,” along with several commentators who mentioned the park’s “majestic” qualities.
