We’re recapping the best stays this past week, beginning with Portland’s exciting partnership between a new bicycle exhibit and three luxury hotels in the area.
Set to open on June 8 at the Portland Art Museum, the Cyclepedia: Iconic Bicycle Design exhibit has partnered with three Provenance Hotels locations around Portland to feature bicycle design installations that will grace the lobbies of chic Hotel Lucia, glamorous Hotel deLuxe and the historic Governor Hotel.
The installations, developed in coordination with the museum, connect the Cyclepedia exhibition to Portland’s uniquely passionate bike culture with each hotel artfully displaying a one-of-a-kind, custom made, bicycle from the city’s own Vanilla Bicycles. Suspended from lobby ceilings and anchored on the walls, the Cyclepedia installations at Hotel deLuxe, Hotel Lucia and the Governor Hotel will be on display for free public viewing for the duration of the exhibit. There will also be a bike installation at Westin Portland.
Next, travel to the coast for the next stay. Set along Laguna Beach, The Pacific Edge Hotel features five newly remodeled Bungalows, each uniquely designed by a local company, including deck access and beach access that showcase each company’s vision. Such companies included Billabong, Fox Head Inc., Hobie, Tuvalu, and Gorjana & Griffin. And while we wish we brought that umbrella or beach chair, these bungalows have it all.
Bungalows include:
- Fully private bungalow with keyed access from 11am to 8pm
- Accommodates up to 10 guests per bungalow
- Lounge chairs and day beds
- Beach towels
- Air conditioning
- Flat screen televisions
- Bottle service and food service
- A Bungalow Girl at your service
- Direct access from the deck to the beach
- Beach Attendant to set up lounge chairs and umbrellas
- Access to Pacific Edge’s exclusive Edge Card, which gives guests discounts at local restaurants and shops
- Ten percent discount on guest rooms at the Pacific Edge Hotel
If you want a tropical vacation this summer, escape to the new Vive Hotel Waikiki. Opening next month on the shores of Waikiki Beach along Oahu’s coast, the brand new boutique hotel is combing old and new Hawaii charm within its 125-rooms and friendly service that is like no other.
Vive Hotel goes beyond the traditional amenities and services typically offered in a beachside locale. A complimentary continental breakfast is served daily in the lobby, which can be enjoyed intermingling with other guests at the communal table, or in the lounge-style area adjacent to the breakfast bar. The hotel will also have a dedicated concierge desk where guests receive insider information from the local staff to discover Hawaii in their own personalized way.
Finally, we’re rounding out the week with a nearby trip to Tucson for the whole family. From May 24 through September 2, Valley families will retreat to Tucson’s Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort as a part of a fun, educational experience with the resort’s summer Edu-tainment program.
Some of the offerings this year include previous family favorites Mad Scientist workshops, Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum creature experience, poolside Dive-In movies and stargazing, as well as several new additions including poolside yoga, solar tours, golf clinics, and cooking classes with the resort’s renowned culinary team.
