A highly anticipated resort, swim club, and event venue called The River Electric has officially opened reservations for its spring debut, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. Nestled in the heart of Sonoma County, this concept was brought to life by the visionary team behind the Shelter Co. Family of Brands.
The property is located on 12 acres of redwood groves and meadows, just a short walk from the historic town of Guerneville. Offering a unique blend of outdoor adventure, relaxation, and curated experiences, the resort highlights the Russian River Valley.
“We’ve had this dream for more than a decade,”CEO Kelsey Sheofsky said. “Since we started Shelter in 2012, we knew a permanent home was in our future. The River Electric is that place, a cornerstone of Guerneville, where people can gather, celebrate, and fall in love with the Russian River Valley.”
Accommodations embody the spirit of elevated outdoor living, featuring 40 furnished tents nestled within a redwood grove. Guests can enjoy the outdoors with all the modern conveniences of home, including electricity, Wi-Fi, and a fully-equipped bathhouse with both single and family stalls.
For those looking for a daytime escape, the swim club offers day-use access and memberships for visitors looking to unwind poolside. Passes start at $32 and include a portable lawn chair, with optional upgrades for chaise lounges and poolside cabanas.
Designed with eco-resilience in mind in collaboration with Boundary Works Design, The River Electric incorporates innovative design elements to mitigate environmental impact. Given its location in a floodplain, solid concrete structures with vents that allow water to pass through, waterproof doors protecting electrical systems, and bio-retention landscaping that directs water flow for swift recovery after flooding.
Inspired by classic pool club menus, guests can expect to dine on favorites such as a refreshing poached salmon salad, flavorful vegan gyros, and house-made potato chips, alongside a full-service bar offering creative cocktails and custom blends for on-property guests from Ruth Lewandowski Wines. Continental breakfast will be provided for overnight guests.
Tents designed by Creative Director Maggie Wilson and Jessie Galloway of Jessie Galloway Design invoke summer camp nostalgia through a contemporary lens.
For those seeking a fully immersive retreat, The River Electric offers exclusive resort buyouts, featuring 40 furnished tents that can accommodate over 80 overnight guests. The resort also has the option to expand lodging through a partnership with its sister company Shelter Co. For more information, visit theriverelectric.com.
