Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort’s Executive Chef Ken Arneson invites locals to lunch and learn events held the garden (pictured) adjacent to Rico’s American Grill in Phoenix. Guests will enjoy a four-course lunch featuring ingredients from the garden and learn about gardening and sustainability from the chef. Taggia Coastal Italian Cuisine and Cocktails, of Kimpton’s FireSky Resort & Spa in Downtown Scottsdale, has announced a brand new chef: Massimo De Francesca. A first-generation Canadian of Italian heritage has worked at three other Kimpton restaurants and brings international culinary experience to the restaurant.
This weekend, the grilled cheese is king at Grilled Cheese Throw Down 2013. On March 3 at Scottsdale’s 5th and Wine, locals are invited to watch local chefs compete for the title of “Big Cheese” and dig into on sandwiches and libations from local eateries. Praying Monk Restaurant and Bar in Scottsdale will host an exciting six-course dinner event prepared by six of the southwest’s most acclaimed chefs on Sunday, March 10, 6:30 p.m. The lineup includes Chef Beau MacMillan of Elements at Sanctuary on Camelback ; Chef Akira Back of Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant and Lounge in Las Vegas; Chef Matt Carter of The Mission Restaurant and Lounge, The House Brasserie and Zinc Bistro; Chef Christopher Gross of Christopher’s Restaurant & Crush Lounge; and Chef Josh Hebert of POSH Restaurant, along with Praying Monk’s Aaron May. The NFL’s Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen hosts the event benefiting the Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors.
