Glenrosa, the highly anticipated Sonoran live fire concept, has officially opened its doors in Tempe. The restaurant offers a casual, thoughtfully crafted menu that immerses guests in the flavors of Sonora and features family-style platters with ribeye, tortillas, vegetables, rice and beans, as well as tacos, salads, and salsas.
The menu is complemented by a beverage program featuring cocktails made with scratch mixers and fresh-squeezed juices, highlighting Glenrosa’s commitment to locally sourced ingredients.
The design offers a unique indoor-outdoor space with fire pits, group seating, and scenic views of the Papago Buttes. As a notable addition to Arizona’s only lighted golf course, Glenrosa’s centerpiece is a custom-made live-fire grill, surrounded by hand-placed tile and evoking the feel of a Sonoran hacienda.
“We wanted to create a laid-back space where guests can share premium food and create memories with their friends and family,” Grass Clippings Co-Founder Jake Hoselton said. “Glenrosa is the celebration of people, which sits at the core of our ‘Stay Grassy’ philosophy.”
The restaurant’s architecture and interiors were designed by AV3 Design Studio, led by Artie Vigil III & Cody Castelletti. The design blends Western Territorial elements with influences from Arizona’s agrarian history, while the interior incorporates concrete, wood, and tile materials commonly seen in taquerias. The team’s vision honors the Southwest and its rich history.
Chef Victor Davila, who previously served as executive chef at Caesars, now leads the kitchen at Glenrosa, building on the vision set by James Beard-nominated chef Samantha Sanz. True to the restaurant’s ethos, the menu focuses on fresh, local ingredients.
Lunch offerings include the crispy Tacos Dorados with chile Colorado beef and pickled veggies, and the Tijuana Salad with baby gem lettuce, chorizo breadcrumbs, and Manchego cheese. For dinner, the menu expands with a “Wood Fired” section featuring a 20 oz. bone-in ribeye, Pescado Zarandeado (red snapper marinated in chile Colorado), and family platters with tomahawk steaks and whole chickens. Breakfast grab-and-go options like breakfast burritos and fresh-pressed juices are also available until 11 a.m.
Glenrosa’s beverage menu includes fresh, house-made cocktails like La Juquila, an agave and citrus drink with a Tajin rim, and the Aloe Margarita, made with Chareau Aloe Liqueur and fresh lime juice. In addition, the drink menu offers a selection of mezcal, tequila, whiskey, beer, seltzers and wine.
“Good food is something that I care deeply about and being able to share an incredible space that takes pride in the Arizona flavors it’s serving is a dream come true,” Hoselton said.
