The legendary Elvira’s is expanding to Scottsdale with its brand-new location in the DC Ranch community. The highly anticipated restaurant is set to open its doors on January 3, 2025, offering guests a blend of authentic Mexican cuisine, artistic design, and interactive dining that promises to delight food lovers across the Valley.
“Our expansion to DC Ranch marks an exciting new chapter for Elvira’s,” Kaufman Hospitality Owner Tom Kaufman said. “We are thrilled to introduce Elvira’s flavors, artistry, and hospitality to Scottsdale, and we can’t wait to create lasting memories in this vibrant community.”
Founded in 1927 in Nogales, Mexico, Elvira’s is a family-owned institution celebrated for its innovative take on Mexican cuisine. Today, the restaurant is led by Chef Ruben Monroy, the founder’s grandson, who has carried on the legacy of culinary excellence. Under Monroy’s leadership, Elvira’s has evolved into a destination restaurant, with the Tubac location as a hallmark of its success.
The DC Ranch location will feature signature dishes from the Tubac menu, including the iconic Chile en Nogada, a poblano pepper stuffed with meat and crowned with a rich walnut sauce and pomegranate seeds. Another must-try dish is the indulgent Mole Negro Oaxaqueño, a rich, complex sauce that highlights the deep, smoky flavors of Mexican cuisine.
“We’re excited to bring these beloved dishes to DC Ranch,” Executive Chef and COO of Kaufman Hospitality Chris George said. “We’re also offering exclusive menu items designed further to celebrate the bold and vibrant flavors of Mexico.”
Chef George is passionate about blending tradition with innovation, ensuring every dish delivers something special. Select dishes will be prepared tableside, offering a chance to engage with the culinary process in an immersive and visually stunning way.
“Our menu is a tribute to time-honored recipes while embracing modern culinary techniques,” he said. “We want every plate to tell a story.”
Signature cocktails are also a highlight. The Hibiscus Margarita, with its refreshing floral notes, and the exotic Guanabanatini, which features the tropical flavor of soursop, are just a few of the creative drinks designed to complement the bold and colorful flavors of the cuisine. The restaurant will blend traditional Mexican artistry and modern Scottsdale elegance. Guests will see handcrafted glass chandeliers, traditional artwork, and limestone sculptures that bring Mexican culture to life in an upscale setting.
“Our goal is to create a space where our guests feel transported to another world while still feeling at home,” says Kaufman. “It’s all about celebrating the beauty of culture and community.”
