Now that the bits and peices of wrapping paper have finally found their way into the vacuum and the ball has dropped in Times Square, it is not time to starting thinking about Phoenix’s next big event: The BCS National Championship Game happening on Jan. 10 in Glendale when Auburn will take on Oregon. Scottsdale is getting into the action all week long with the Bud Light Fiesta, featuring plenty of opportunities to eat, drink (both alcoholic and not) and enjoy one of the biggest sports events of the year.
Through Jan. 9, leading up to the day of the game, the Fiesta kicks off with live ESPN broadcasts and a $2 Tailgate Party on the Waterfront Bridge. Then, on Thursday, Jan. 6, Scottsdalites are invited to get their game faces ready with free admission to three acres of entertainment including live music from national recording artists, live ESPN College Football Live and College GameDay broadcasts, a continuation of the $2 Tailgate Party with fare from 11 restaurants (including FnB, Eddie’s House, The Mission and more), eight bars, sports-skills games (think field-goal kick and cornhole), the official Oregon and Auburn pep rallies, BCS team merchandise and–of course–intense college football excitement. Score the ultimate BCS experience with Bud Light Fiesta VIP passes available Thursday through Sunday for $50 each.
The Bud Light Fiesta will take place on Goldwater Boulevard one block south of Camelback Road at the Scottsdale Waterfront. Event producers M Culinary Concepts and SportsOne have transformed the once dirt lot into a grassy oasis complete with a replica football field, tents, stages and party facilities that will serve as the headquarters for ultimate BCS excitement. Best of all, a portion of the proceeds from Scottsdale’s Bud Light Fiesta will benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation.
