Dog Haus Hosts Donation Campaign Benefiting Phoenix Rescue Mission

As Arizona’s triple-digit temperatures soar, many residents find relief indoors and drink plenty of water. Unfortunately, for the Valley’s unhoused communities, escaping the sometimes deadly heat isn’t always an available possibility.

Known for its gourmet hot dogs, burgers, and casual dining, Dog Haus will serve a refreshing and creative way to contribute to Arizona’s homeless population. Beginning August 16 through Sunday, August 18, the eatery is offering the “Give Water, Get Beer” promotion – a water drive benefiting Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Code: Red Summer HEAT Relief Campaign.

To participate, guests can donate a case of water and, in return, can buy a pint of beer for just one cent. This unique incentive encourages community involvement and addresses the urgent need for hydration among those most at risk from Arizona’s extreme heat.

For Andi Ott, franchise owner of Dog Haus Biergarten, the drive is more than just a charitable act; it is a commitment to the community.

“Anyone who lives here or visits Arizona in the summer knows how hot it can get. Many times, it’s easy to consider ways to keep cool and hydrated ourselves, but we may not always think of others,” Ott said. “Phoenix Rescue Mission is such an incredible and passionate organization, and with how much they do for those in the homeless community, we knew we wanted to step up and help in any way we could.”

The need for such initiatives is more apparent than ever. According to the Phoenix Rescue Mission, in 2023, there were 645 heat-related deaths in Maricopa County, a 52 percent increase from 2022. Almost half of these deaths were from people experiencing homelessness. Ken Brissa, CEO of Phoenix Rescue Mission, emphasized that these deaths are preventable.

“Dog Haus’ generous water drive to benefit our Code: Red campaign will allow us to help these communities as much as possible by meeting people where they are and providing life-saving necessities like water,” Brissa said.

The Give Water, Get Beer promotion will be available at three Dog Haus locations across the Valley: Downtown Phoenix at CityScape, Dog Haus Chandler near Loop 101 and Chandler Blvd., and Dog Haus Gilbert in SanTan Village.

In addition to a pint of beer, the restaurant’s extensive menu offers gourmet all-beef hot dogs, handcrafted sausages, humanely raised Creekstone Farms Black Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches, breakfast burritos and more, with plant-based options for vegetarians and vegans.
