Epicenter at Agritopia Announces The Mission to Open in 2025

Epicenter at Agritopia, an award-winning mixed-use community in Gilbert, has exciting news for food enthusiasts. The Mission, a renowned modern Latin restaurant led by acclaimed Chef Matt Carter, is set to open its third location at Epicenter in late 2025.

The eatery will replace Belly Kitchen & Bar, whose owners have decided to pursue new restaurant ventures in Phoenix, with both parties expressing mutual respect for the transition.

“We are grateful for everything Belly has brought to our community and wish its owners every success in their next chapter. At the same time, we’re thrilled to welcome The Mission, a restaurant we’ve admired for years,” Joe Johnston, Founder of Johnston & Co. – the company behind Agritopia – said. “The Mission embodies a concept driven by passion, backed by strong business acumen, and committed to delivering a distinctive dining experience. We know they’ll bring something truly special to Epicenter.”

The Mission, known for its bold Latin flavors and vibrant atmosphere, will bring signature dishes like house-made tortillas, famous Mission Guacamole prepared tableside, and the unforgettable “Whole Roasted Pig Out” weekend brunch experience, which is an all-you-can-eat affair. The new location will also feature an agave-centric bar, offering craft cocktails that have become synonymous with The Mission brand.

Chef Carter, business partner Brian Raab, and their team expressed their excitement about the move:

“We’ve always admired the vision behind Epicenter at Agritopia. We were excited by its potential when we first explored joining the project, but the timing wasn’t right then. We’re thrilled that it has come together now,” Carter said. “Expanding The Mission to this incredible location is the perfect next step for us. We can’t wait to share our passion for Latin cuisine with the Gilbert community.”

“We’ve loved being part of the Epicenter community and are incredibly proud of what our team has built here,” Robert Cissell, owner of Belly Kitchen & Bar, said. “We’re excited for what’s next and are confident that The Mission will be a fantastic addition to this community.”

When The Mission opens in late 2025, it will feature a redesigned space with expanded seating, a refreshed mission-style storefront, and an inviting bar area. The restaurant will offer lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, creating an all-day destination for food lovers in the area. For more information, visit epicenteratagritopia.com.
