This year, Food & Wine debuted its Global Tastemakers Awards, a reader’s poll that showcases the best culinary experiences available while traveling. Readers voted on categories ranging from bars to restaurants, cities to cruises and airlines to hotels to land on “the most phenomenal places to eat and drink” in the world.
The first-ever Global Tastemakers Awards feature two Arizona resorts for their hotel bars and restaurants. Both L’Auberge de Sedona and Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows made the lists for the 10 best hotel bars and 15 best hotels for food in the U.S., thanks to their on-site bars and restaurants that have been voted as favorites among Food & Wine readers and travelers.
The Global Tastemakers Awards recognized three hotel bars across the two Arizona resorts, with Cress Bar at L’Auberge de Sedona landing at No. 3 on the list of the top 10 U.S. hotel bars. Highlighted as a “natural haven from daily life,” Cress Bar offers an extensive high-end collection of wines and whiskeys with specialty cocktails, including the Duck Hunter, which is an Old Fashioned made with rum, amaro and Irish whiskey.
At No. 7, Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows earned praise for two of its on-site bars: Turquoise Pool Bar & Grille and Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen. Both bars offer an artfully-curated selection of cocktails to be enjoyed indoors or outdoors, including an earthy Nebbiolo perfect for sunset, a berry-infused amaro sour and a tequila highball infused with peppers and radish.
Apart from beverages, L’Auberge de Sedona and Andaz Scottsdale both provide excellent food offerings that helped place them among the best U.S. hotel restaurants. At No. 4, L’Auberge de Sedona’s flagship restaurant Cress on Oak Creek features a beautiful woodland setting perfect for romantic dinners and refined cuisine inspired by Italy, France, and Spain. Andaz Scottsdale stands out at No. 7 for its mid-century modern design and great dining at Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen, which offers a patio, glass-walled dining room, views of Camelback Mountain, a Mediterranean-inspired menu and six-course tasting menu.
L’Auberge de Sedona is located at 301 L’Auberge Lane in Sedona, Ariz. Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen is open daily for breakfast/brunch, happy hour and dinner, while the bar is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight.
