The shining jewel of luxury resort Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain is getting a much anticipated makeover. The jade bar will be temporarily moving to the converted private dining room until fall of 2013 when it’s newly updated home will be reopened. Designers plan to enhance the already famous desert views of the bar with windows stretching from floor to ceiling, a new layout which will nearly double seating indoors and outside. The jade bar will also include a stunning stand-up drink bar cut from authentic jade. On scorching days, guests will be able to relax beneath retractable fabric shades on the patio. During cooler Arizona nights, heated lamps and a fireplace will warm up bar goers as they stargaze.
Frequent guests of jade need not worry about the bar slowing down in the meantime. Thankfully all of the jade bar’s typical events will continue during reconstruction over the summer months. From 7- 10 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, free live music can be enjoyed by “Weekends at Jade” through August 31. “The Pour” happy hour from 4-6 p.m. will still occur daily and the bar’s ever popular “Mixology 101” classes continue on Saturdays at 1 p.m. for $30.
Sanctuary at Camelback will continue to celebrate summer by offering special “Whisper Cocktail” updates, exclusively for their Twitter followers. Each month, the resort will tweet a code word from their account, @SanctuaryAZ, which will enable followers who “whisper” it to gain access to a limited time, off menu cocktail for only $10 at jade bar. http://www.sanctuaryoncamelback.com/index.html. –Victoria Fouts
