Just in time for the NFL kickoff, the East Valley entertainment scene is about to get even more exciting with Backyard Gilbert, set to open the first week of September. This indoor/outdoor bar and grill will replace Sandbar Mexican Grill, which closed in May at 1975 E. Williams Field Road.
Backyard Gilbert prides itself on being an immersive experience for guests. The venue features retractable walls that seamlessly open to create a spacious environment, and when the weather finally cools down, diners can bask in both indoor and outdoor temperatures.
At the core of Backyard Gilbert’s appeal is its entertainment lineup. The venue has massive 18’ x 10’ LED screens that can simultaneously broadcast multiple games, making it a haven for sports fans. The cutting-edge sound and light system, coupled with a built-in stage for live music, ensures that every visit is filled with something new. Interactive games like Pop-a-Shot and corn hole are on-site for those who like to mix a little play with their dining.
From loaded Backyard Nachos to various smash burgers and flatbreads, the menu is packed with scratch kitchen favorites to impress any foodie. Comfort food lovers will be drawn to signature dishes like homemade meatloaf and turkey pot pie. Craft beers and curated cocktails are available and wine can be purchased by glass or bottle.
Evening Entertainment Group developed the new restaurant, which is also home to Mother Trucker’s Tavern, a brand-new vintage dive bar coming to Old Town Scottsdale in early September.

As day turns into night, the bar will transform into a vibrant nightlife destination. The 9,500-square-foot space comes alive with live DJs, drink specials, and an up-tempo atmosphere that EEG prides itself on.
