Chef Payton Curry is at it again. After causing waves at Easter time by introducing a rabbit-tasting menu at Caffe Boa, Chef Curry is now dishing up Santa’s sidekick with a reindeer-tasting menu for the holidays. From Tuesday, Dec. 21 to Tuesday, Jan. 4, Tempe’s Caffe Boa and Mesa’s Boa Bistro will dish up a six-course tasting menu featuring North American Reindeer (or caribou)–considered a Canadian and European delicacy. (There will also be a special-edition caribou tasting menu on New Year’s Eve featuring special additions.) The menu is scheduled to include caribou tartare and pickled quail eggs, caribou-tongue bruschetta with pickled watermelon radish and horseradish crema and caribou cotechino with red lentils and quince mostarda.
Curious what reindeer will taste like? The luxury meat is know fine texture and gamey taste. Plus, the meat is known to be low in fat content.
