After spending three years at The Borgata of Scottsdale, one of the Valley’s top spots for a stellar slice–‘Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana–is relocating to Phoenix. The new ‘Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana is slated to open today in Downtown Phoenix, just east of the Phoenix Public Market. And even more good news for ‘za fans: a second location of ‘Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana is in the works for North Scottsdale this fall.
At the fresh Phoenix location, Executive Chef Matteo Schiavone will continue to import all of the food products directly from Italy and execute Italy’s time-honored methods of making amazing pizza. Plus, Chef Schiavone will be bringing his same kitchen staff with him as well, including Master Pastry Chef Debra Giovenco. To the new location, Chef Schiavone brings his Awarded Pizza Certifications from the “Verace Pizza Napoletana” and the “Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani,” as well as a larger oven created by Mario Acunto, a third-generation Napoletana oven maker. Proving that just any ole pizza oven wouldn’t do, Chef Schiavone personally guided the creation of the new 6,500-pound pizza oven during a recent trip to Napoli and had it shipped to ‘Pomo’s new Phoenix location. http://pomopizzeria.com/.
