In honor of National Oyster Day, Little Cleo’s (pictured) will be hosting an Oyster Eating Contest on Wednesday, August 5, at 5:30 p.m. Contestants will have one-minute to eat as many oysters as they can, and the winner will receive free oysters for a whole year. For those looking to cheer on the crowd or to simply celebrate National Oyster Day, Little Cleo’s will be offering happy hour all evening long, starting at 4 p.m.
Through August 9, head to Hopdoddy Burger Bar for the super-spicy (you have to sign a waiver!) Ghostland Burgatory special burger. Made up of a beef patty, pepper jack cheese, serrano and habanero peppers, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo, this burger is kicked way up with the addition of ghost peppers and a special ghost sauce.
This summer, Paul Martin’s American Grill is hosting deals galore, from a selection of specially priced $12 lunch and $16 dinner entrees to an expanded their happy hour menu to include an entree/fries/beer combo for $13. The Scottsdale restaurant is also hosting weekly complimentary wine tastings on select Wednesday and Thursday evenings, available through October.
BRAVO Tipping, Bootleggers Modern American Smokehouse, Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock and Paradise Valley Community College have teamed up to host a day of food, music and giving back and supporting local music on Saturday, August 1. The BRAVO Concert Series at Bootleggers lineup starts at noon with the very talented Tina Estes and will continue throughout the day with artists, Zoelle, JAM, Rachel Brown, Lelea, Solid Rockettes, Doll Skin, Matt Khaler and Laura Walsh. Featured artist, Sara Robinson closes the event with a performance at 8:20 p.m. With no cover, attendees will be encouraged to download the BRAVO app, giving them the opportunity to tip the artists, Bootleggers service staff and have some fun with the raffles that also serve as a donation to Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center. Proceeds benefit a music college scholarship at Paradise Valley Community College with Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock.
In honor of National Root Beer Float Day on Thursday, August 6, TEXAZ Grill will be offering their gourmet root beer float with rich, craft-brewed Abita Root Beer for $4 all day long.
On Monday, August 3, Chef Anthony Serrano from El Palacio of Chandler will take on reigning champ, Chef Romeo Taus from Romeo’s Euro Café, in Chef Off. Each chef will prepare three dishes to be paired with local craft beer from The Perch in Chandler. The secret ingredient is pork, and the dinner theme is Southwestern. Dinner attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite dishes in a blind tasting. At the end of the night, one chef will be named the winner. The winning chef will go on to compete with the next Chef Off challenger. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. at El Palacio, with tickets being $55 per person. Seating will be very limited, so make a reservation by calling 480.802.5770.
Kids eat free the whole month of August at both Scramble – a Breakfast Joint locations (Phoenix and Scottsdale) from 6 – 8 a.m. Monday through Friday with the purchase of an adult meal. Children 12 years and younger will receive a free kids meal for every adult meal ordered. Menu items that qualify for the free giveaway include anything on Scramble’s kids menu: dollar cakes, French toast or egg scramble with choice of fruit, bacon or sausage patty and kid’s milk or Capri Sun (regularly $3.99 each).
