Press Coffee opens The Roastery by Press Coffee, the new flagship roasting facility and café, on July 19 at 10443 N. 32nd St. in Phoenix. The free-standing, eco-friendly building houses three coffee roasters, event and classroom space, and the café will have expanded food and drink offerings. As part of the grand opening celebration, from July 19 through July 21, Press Coffee will sell $1 drip coffees with 100 percent of profits donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
The fourth-annual Wurst Festival Ever takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, at Short Leash Hot Dogs in Phoenix. The fest gives hot dog fans a chance to enjoy local beers and creative hot dog recipes and catch the acts of local comedians. Plus, attendees vote to crown one local food truck the “Wurst Wiener” of 2019. This outdoor festival features free water and access to a huge Typhoon mobile mist trailer with admission. Admission is $10 at wurstfestivalever.com or at the door on July 20. Tickets for hot dog samples from competing local restaurants are $3. One sample equals half of a gourmet hot dog. Premium local beers are $5 each.
In honor of the Phoenix location’s first anniversary, Provision Coffee Bar is hosting a party on Saturday, July 20, from 7 p.m. until midnight. Guests can enjoy a special cocktail menu, complimentary light bites from Provision’s local bakers, vintage tracks spun by DJ Desert Oddities and enter to win raffle prizes.
Pomo Gilbert’s new all-day summer happy hour will run Tuesday through Saturday from open to 6 p.m. and all day on Sundays. Reverse happy hour is available Tuesday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to close and Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to close. The menu will include half-off all appetizers like polpette meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, Italian salumi and more. Libations will also be half-off, including wines, beers, Peroni, well drinks and cocktails. Additionally during happy hour, guests who purchase a pizza will receive a Peroni for just $1.
To commemorate Arizona’s stormy season, the Monsoon Margarita is now available through the end of September at Giordano’s restaurants in Phoenix. The sip features a fruity blend of tangy pineapple juice and traditional lime juice, along with agave nectar, tequila, and triple sec. It’s served on the rocks in a cinnamon-rimmed glass and garnished with a wedge of orange.
National Tequila Day is July 24, and to celebrate Taco Guild is offering complimentary tequila tastings all day, including Herradura from noon to 2 p.m. and Azunia ending the night from 8 to 10 p.m. Taco Guild also will be offering discounted featured tequila flights all day for $12 (regularly $15) that comes with a free Taco Guild shot glass. Plus, The Lola AZ will serve $3 house margaritas made with 3 Amigos Tequila and $5 Don Julio Silver shots all day, and Macayo’s will be celebrating with a $6 margarita flight (regularly $9.99). This special deal allows guests to choose any four flavors from the restaurant’s extensive menu of house, apple, mango, peach, prickly pear, raspberry, strawberry and wild berry margaritas.
Marcellino Ristorante will host a special “Dinner and Movie Night” in the Old Town restaurant’s private dining room, which will seat up to 12 guests on this special evening. Guests can order from the Summer Supper Special menu and watch “Roman Holiday” on Friday, July 19, or “Big Night” on Friday, August 23. Guests need to arrive by 6:30 p.m. in order to place their dinner orders before the movie starts at 7 p.m. There is no additional charge to watch the movie, but because seating is limited, reservations are required.
Throughout the month of July, when guests purchase fudge from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory at Tempe Marketplace, the store will donate a matching quantity of fudge to Youth for Troops, a youth-driven New River-based nonprofit organization dedicated to deployed servicemen and veterans. In addition to the donations, guests can write a “thank you” note to military service members, and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory will ship them with the donations.
From Tuesday, July 23, to Sunday, July 28, Mora Italian will be featuring its famous strozzapreti. The strozzapreti pasta dish includes duck ragu, truffle, arugula and parmesan for $25.
July is National Ice Cream month, and National Ice Cream Day is this Sunday, July 21. Sweet Provisions (pictured) in Scottsdale will be honoring the tasty holiday by offering guests buy one, get one free on all ice cream purchases (scoops and cones) all day long. Also on July 21, all day long, Creamistry locations are offering guests one free regular-size Ruby Cacao ice cream treat with any regular size ice cream purchase of equal or greater value.
