The Crack Shack, San Diego’s Famous Fried Chicken Chain, is Coming to Phoenix

The Crack Shack, a popular fried chicken restaurant chain based in San Diego, is officially coming to metro Phoenix.

Known for its superior fried chicken plates and creative sandwiches, The Crack Shack is a favorite among chicken lovers, with multiple locations across California, Nevada, Texas and Utah. The coop-like eatery is now bringing its Southern California fried chicken fare to the Valley with two new restaurants set to open in metro Phoenix in 2024.

Originally conceptualized in 2015 by celebrity chef Richard Blais and the team behind his fine dining concept Juniper and Ivy in San Diego, The Crack Shack was born from a passion for fried chicken and an empty shack next door to their restaurant. The laid-back, counter service dining experience is centered around a chef-driven menu, locally-raised and intentionally sourced ingredients, warm hospitality and exceptional classic comfort food.

The Crack Shack’s menu features sandwiches, bowls, fried chicken plates and flock meals to share with a choice of dipping sauces, sides including mini biscuits and fries, Lil Cluckers for kids and desserts.

Highlights include the Firebird sandwich made with spicy fried Jidori thigh, cool ranch, crispy onions, pickles and a potato roll; the Jidori Tender Combo with five seasoned fried chicken tenders and schmaltz fries; and the The Reubenstein sandwich featuring chicken thigh pastrami, shack kraut, dr. brown’s creamed onions, dijonnaise, swiss and corn rye bread. Desserts include hand-crafted seasonal shakes and salted chocolate chip or blue cornmeal white chocolate chip housemade cookies.

The Crack Shack’s two new restaurants in metro Phoenix are planned to open in 2024, with the first location slated to open on East Camelback Road in Phoenix and the second slated to open on Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale.
