As we celebrate the new year, so are many of our favorite Valley restaurants. This month, one of Scottsdale’s top sushi and Japanese dining spots is kicking off 2011 with a slew of exciting events. First up, Scottsdale’s Roka Akor isn’t letting the fact that it’s a sushi restaurant stop it from paying homage to the A-plus meats of Creekstone Farms during January’s Steak Month. The meat of Creekstone Farms meets Roka Akor’s high quality standards in every way. Creekstone owns their processing facilities, which means they control every aspect of production—resulting in a product you can trust. (If you’d like to learn more about Creekstone Farms and its quality meats, visit http://www.creekstonefarms.com/.) Creekstone Farms boasts USDA certification, verifiable Black Angus genetics, humane animal treatment, high-quality corn-based feed, state of the art processing and two USDA certified beef programs: Premium and Natural. Throughout the month of January, Roka Akor will be featuring Creekstone Farms’ filet, New York strip, rib eye, wagyu rib eye, skirt steak and bison cuts prepared on the restaurant’s robatayaki grill. All steaks will be served with a choice of Roka Akor’s signature sauces including chili ginger, wafu dressing, black truffle aioli, miso mustard and sweet garlic soy.
In January, Scottsdale’s Roka Akor will also celebrate the start of the new year with its Tuesday Tastings. Join Roka Akor every Tuesday from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. for a complimentary wine or sake tasting that allows guests to try new and current wines throughout the month. Wines sampled during Tuesday Tastings which currently are not on the Roka Akor wine list will be available for purchase for the entire week (Tuesday through Monday). January kicks off the new series, and Republic National Distributing Company will be featuring wines all month long.
January Tuesday Tasting schedule:
Jan. 11: Ichisima Silk Deluxe Junmai Sake; Sequoia Grove Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Jan. 18: Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc; Michele Chiarlo Barbera D’Asti
Jan. 25: Chokaisan Junmai Daiginjo Sake; Craggy Range Te Kahu
(All wines featured in January are available at AJ’s Fine Foods.)
Steak lovers? Check. Wine lovers? Check. Lastly, Roka Akor is appeasing car lovers with its presence at Barrett-Jackson later this month. Roka Akor will be featured in the food area at Barrett-Jackson car auction all week long during the 40th Annual Barrett Jackson Collector Car Event from January 17 – January 23 in Scottsdale’s WestWorld. Roka Akor will be participating as a food vendor at this year’s highly anticipated event. 7299 North Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale, 480.306.8800, www.rokaakor.com.
