Just in time for Father’s Day, Valley steakhouse Fleming’s brings back its Summer Grilling Series, classes that are dedicated to showing locals the ins and outs of grilling, sharing delish recipes and–most importantly–giving dads and other students wine samples and tastes of their learned recipes. Fleming’s Summer Grilling Series classes are 90 minutes, take place from 1-2:30p at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Peoria and are $25. Here’s a rundown of the classes, starting this week:
June 9, July 7 and August 11: The Perfect Cut – Steak 101
Fleming’s Chef Patner Jeff Fearing will show guests its most popular cuts of steak and discuss the differences, then everyone will head to the grill for some on-hand do’s and don’ts to cooking. After the sessions guests will get to sample three cuts side by side – the filet, New York strip, and ribeye – so they can taste the difference themselves.
June 23 and August 25: BBQ Basics
In this seminar, Chef Jeff will teach the everyday cook how to get perfect barbecue. Topics include Rubs – how to make and how to use them and Marinades – what is the best way to apply, and what types of meats go best with a marinade and the many styles of barbecue. Also covered will be the technique of indirect smoking versus grilling, the differences between the types of wood that is available and types of smokers that can be used. And no barbecue is complete without learning how to properly build and maintain a fire.
July 21: Grilling Seafood
Preparing delicate fishes on the grill can be challenging. Chef Jeff will offer his expertise with tips and cooking tools to help make sure your shrimp doesn’t end up in the barbie.
