You can now order food from Uber Eats that’s delivered in a fully autonomous Waymo vehicle in metro Phoenix.
Participating restaurants include local favorites, such as Princess Pita, Filiberto’s and Bosa Donuts, across Waymo’s more than 225-square-mile service area in Chandler, Tempe and Mesa.
Phoenix is the world’s largest autonomous vehicle service area, where Waymo and Uber have established a multi-year strategic partnership to revolutionize access to mobility through local deliveries and ride-sharing trips.
How to Order Uber Eats with Waymo
When placing an Uber Eats order in Waymo’s Phoenix service area, customers will receive an in-app prompt that says, “autonomous vehicles may deliver your order.”
After placing an order, Uber Eats users will be notified if they’ve matched with a fully autonomous Waymo Driver. When the vehicle arrives, customers will receive instructions to take their phone with them to open the vehicle’s trunk and collect their items.
No worries if you prefer your food delivered the old-fashioned way by a real human: There is the option to select a human courier at checkout.
