Whether for Mother’s Day or another springtime celebration, Sassi in North Scottsdale has dished up a few fruity cocktails that’ll make your guests excited for the season.
Rubarbo Cocktail
3 lemon wedges
3 fresh strawberries, washed and hulled
1 oz rhubarb syrup (see recipe below)
1.5 oz vodka
Muddle the lemon wedges and two strawberries together in mixing glass. Add the rhubarb syrup and vodka, stir. Fill collins or rocks glass with ice, strain the drink mixture over the ice, fill with club soda and garnish with a fresh strawberry.
Rhubarb Syrup
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 cup rhubarb, washed and cut into 1-inch pieces
Combine all ingredients in saucepan, bring to boil. Simmer 10 minutes or until rhubarb is soft. Strain into clean glass container, chill and store for up to 10 days.
Corsair Cocktail
1.5 oz Corsair gin, or other premium quality gin
1 oz rosemary syrup (see recipe below)
one oz fresh lemon juice (approximately half a lemon)
dash orange bitters
one lemon wedge (1/6 of a lemon)
Fill tall collins glass with ice, pour gin, syrup, lemon juice and bitters over the ice. Fill with club soda, garnish with lemon wedge.
Rosemary syrup
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
½ cup fresh rosemary, roughly chopped
Blood Orange Margarita
1.5 oz Premium quality tequila
½ oz Cointreau
2 oz blood orange juice (fresh blood oranges are available from February – April)
1 oz lime juice (juice of one lime)
Combine all ingredients with 6-8 ice cubes in mixing glass, shake and pour into rocks glass. Garnish with lime wedge or slice of blood orange.
