Ready to get your sip on? On Friday, Oct. 29, and Saturday, Oct. 30, First Press will host its 9th Annual Weekend of Wine. Friday night’s Grand Tasting will be held at Phoenix’s new Musical Instrument Museum. The event will feature samplings of more than 100 wines as well as the fourth installment of the Food Fight where local chefs will enter culinary battle. This year’s participating chefs are Eddie Matney (Eddie’s House), Michael DeMaria (Heirloom), Scott Tompkins (Skye Restaurant) and Lee Hillson (T. Cook’s). Tickets to the Grand Tasting are $65 which includes admission to the MIM. Grand Tasting VIP tickets are available for $125 and include entry to the VIP lounge with exclusive wine samplings from Benovia Winery, and gourmet hors d’oeuvres from participating restaurants. Proceeds from the Grand Tasting will benefit Phoenix Public Radio.
On Saturday, the First Press Fine Wine Auction will be presented by Molina Fine Jewelers at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale. The event includes pre-dinner wine tasting reception, a silent auction, live entertainment by the Valley’s Latin jazz band, Sonan, and live auction lots where guests can bid on dining and entertainment, rare and collectible vintages and much more.
