A new plane-themed bar, where luxury air travel of the ’60s and ’70s meets mixology, will soon open in downtown Phoenix. Set for take-off in early 2024, Carry On will offer guests, or “travelers,” an immersive flight experience and an impressive cocktail menu that nods to the “golden age” of flying.
The new cocktail concept is the latest project by Pretty Decent Concepts, the hospitality group behind Wren & Wolf, Trophy Room and Chico Malo. The group worked with architects and interior designers to construct the plane that will bring guests a cocktail experience unlike anything else in Phoenix.
Carry On will welcome guests on board a 90-minute travel adventure that begins with a ticket “check-in” and jet bridge leading to the aircraft cabin, which has been thoughtfully designed to bring the vintage glamor of luxury air travel back to life. Once seated, passengers will mingle within the retro plane setting complete with wood cladding, leather seats, chrome accents and ambient lighting. Other elements will include a luxurious onboard bathroom and phone booth.
In addition to the unique decor, Carry On guests will embark on an immersive flight experience featuring a welcome cocktail and pre-recorded safety debrief by the to-be-announced celebrity personality “pilot,” along with 14 window monitors displaying realistic footage of the departure and arrival locations. Carry On’s flight routes will change every 12 months, transporting 30 passengers at a time to exciting destinations each year. The first flight route departs from San Francisco and ends in Mexico City.
On board, guests will enjoy cocktails inspired by the era of luxury air travel as well as a selection of rotating specialty cocktails and mocktails that represent the departure and arrival locations. Instead of a full menu, Carry On will serve passengers elevated, complimentary snacks throughout the flight experience.
