An incredible wine selection. A welcoming, intimate atmosphere. A comfortable, dog-friendly patio. And a delectable and approachable menu with a twinge of Italian inspiration. Grape Wine Bistro is a lovely dining gem in North Scottsdale that begs for a date night or a wine-and-apps outing with girlfriends.
To kick off a meal at Grape Wine Bistro, a sampling of bruschetta is in order. From sweet to savory to salty, there are nearly a dozen combos to choose from. Favorites include the gorgonzola and poached pear topped with the you’ll-want-to-drink-it vanilla-fig vinegar and the melted mozzarella crowned with refreshing heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil, and balsamic reduction.
For a guilt-free way (and New-Year’s-get-fit-resolution-friendly way) to tempt your taste buds, the beet salad is a rainbow of healthy goodies like roasted beets, orange segments and crushed walnuts on greens with a crumbling of creamy goat cheese and blood orange dressing and a hint of vanilla fig vinegar. The walnuts add a nice crunch against the creamy cheese and tangy orange segments.
At lunchtime, the gourmet grilled cheese with a cup of tomato-basil soup is tops–especially while the temps are still chilly. Between two crunchy, buttered pieces of Texas toast, the grilled cheese sandwich is oozing with fontina, gruyere and goat cheese as well as heirloom tomatoes and crispy bacon strips. This is an irresistible high-end take on a comfort food classic.
Come dinnertime, Grape Wine Bistro dishes up elegant entrees that range from seafood plates to hearty meat dishes. Seafoodies will go wild over the seared scallops atop of wild mushroom risotto and buttered asparagus tips. The scallops melt in your mouth while the perfectly al dente risotto is decadent and creamy. The tender filet mignon is doused in a rich mushroom-gorgonzola demi glace and sided with purple mashed potatoes (which are as pretty as they are tasty).
Dessert time calls for Grape Wine Bistro’s 10-layer coconut cake. Though a cake of that size might be intimidating at the end of a multi-course meal (because you will want many courses), it is worth accepting the challenge. Coated in toasted coconut–which adds a really nice texture and crunch–and covered with a yummy vanilla bean frosting, the cake is sure to be a favorite at any table.
